The design of thrust ball bearing can bear thrust load while running at high rotation speed, it consists of the rings with washer type which have ball rolling raceway groove. 

As the ring is washer type, so the thrust ball bearings are divided into flat washer and self-aligning spherical washer. Also, this bearing can bear axial load but can’t bear radial load.

Design character:

1. Thrust ball bearings have two types including single direction type and double direction type.

2.Thrust ball bearing can only bear axial load, single direction thrust ball bearing can only bear axial load in single direction, double direction thrust ball bearing can bear the alternate axial load in two directions.

3.Thrust ball bearings can’t limit shaft or housing radial displacement, its limit rotation speed is very slow, single direction thrust ball bearing can limit the axial displacement of shaft or housing in single direction, double direction thrust ball bearing can limit the axial displacement of shaft or housing in two double directions. 

4.Thrust ball bearing will produce sliding between the ball and the raceway because of inertia force when it is running, it will make the temperature rise and the working surface will be easier to be damaged. In order to protect the bearing from sliding on the raceway, the axial force must be minimum on the thrust ball bearing when working. 

5.In order to allow the installation error, whatever single direction or double direction, both can choose spherical self-aligning type washer or spherical washer type.
